Last blog of year 2004

Reports on the destructive tsunami in Indonesia caused so many deaths. Aren't we lucky to be situated in this small island protected by the bigger islands around us?

Failed 1 module. Sucks. And got a D for the paper I was most confident in. WTF!! I can't believe it!! Effort does not equal to Results! The more I study, the worse I did. Senseless! I went to review this stupid paper, but failed to get an improved grade. And this module I fail has no lessons in the next sem. Well, well. Sucks.

FYP FYP! Hate waking up early in the wee hours to go book equipment. Now in the midst of typing my progress report due on 5th Jan. Only about 40% through now.

On the lighter note, I bought my new handphone E600C at $308 without contract and line. Hehe, cos' my brother will be using my account to buy his N6230 as he can't wait till August 2005. My new phone looks so much nicer than the previous N6610. Yikes! NO more NOKIA!

Daddy has been wanting to buy me a watch since my birthday in July. Finally I got it on the day I got my new handphone. Balmain watch, nice one, bio-ing for sometime, bought it at $340. ^_^

I went to watch The Phantom of The Opera -- the movie yesterday at JP. GREAT man!!! I've been wanting to watch the musical years ago, and after Broadway closed down, hopes of watching it died. But now, they made it into a movie!! Of cos' I have to go catch it!! Broadway and musical lovers a MUST to watch it!! I'm so glad I got the CD recording too. Hehe.

Thinking whether to catch Sound of Music coming April and also Swan Lake in June. But I'm going for Hacken and Alan's concert in March, would I be spending too much money?? Sigh, but those are what I really wanna watch for a long time.

Countdown performance on 31st Dec! Have to play 2 quartet pieces and 3 ensemble pieces. Practising hard, with blistering fingers... Just do my best, ya? Talking about this 31st Dec performance, my bitchy SE president is irritating me again. Just hate her, I don't know why.

An insight into SE: We have 4 groups of players - Beginners, Intermediates, Advanced, Experienced. Currently there are no advanced players. The experienced group consists of the main ensemble, the first violins, second violins, violas and basses. The intermediates, forming the third violins, are joining the ensemble for the 31st Dec performance and also the Feb 05' concert.

So, this bitch and another guy, both from the Intermediate group, are joining the first violins for the 31st performance. YES, FIRST VIOLINS! I think she is out of her mind. The guy learnt violin before, and I think he is ok. But the bitch plays like shit. Just because she thinks she is the president she can put herself anywhere? Yesterday we had practised, and she REALLY can't play, cannot bow, obviously didn't practise at ALL! Not to mention she can't even manage her third violin part. Urgh, she'll only be spoiling the show. I hate her.

Time to sleep. FYP will still continue tomorrow at 8am. Shucks.

Choir Concert

I went for Dunman's 10th Anniversary Choir concert on Sunday at VCH. Well, it was really good. The standard was kept there and I think it improved! It was a pity I can't be part of the choir as I had so many commitments in NTU. But sitting at the circle seats watching was a new experience as I'm always the one on stage.

Met many old classmates, and all of them become prettier and more handsome. Met my JC Economics tutor (whom happened to be the ex-VP of Dunman), and I went to greet her. But she only asked, "How are you?" and left hastily. Has she forgotten me? Can't be, cos' I was the lousiest Econs student in class.

After the concert, I managed to grab Mr Toh (the choir conductor). I called out to him, and he turned around saying, "Hey, I remember you!" Phew, what a relieve. And managed to take a picture with him. I'm so happy. Haha.

I miss choir days...

Life Sux

Hi There to those who have missed me... How are you all doing? Been really busy with my work schedule and feeling so sian now that I'm blogging.

Exams were finally over. And the results are gonna be released in 2 days' time! I wonder how I will fair. I really hope to clear all my subjects this time cos' it's the first time I'm not worried about completing over 20-over tutorials before the exams. Hoping for the best. And also my Grade 6 Piano Theory exam. I completed it in 2 hours out of the 3-hour paper, and really hope to get a good grade for it. Before the exams, I was tuning in to Class 95's "Captain Of Your Heart" show. And was captured into Simon's show instantly probably because of his enticing voice and the love songs he played that brought many memories back to me. And on the night before my MS403 paper, he announced that he is leaving the station to do some background work. I sent him an SMS for the first and the last time wishing him all the best in the future and he read my SMS out. I felt quite emotional that night, and he signed off saying, "This is Simon Lim, Captain of Your Heart, signing off for the last time. Wishing you a very good night and sweet dreams for the very last time."

A Tribute To Simon:

I never tuned in to Class 95 from that night onwards, and changed to Symphony 92.4 instead. I participated in some of its SMS contests and won some freebies. Hehe. It included a $50 North Indian Restaurant voucher, $50 Visage Voucher, a Relaxing Moods 2 CD, and some radio premiums. Lucky me!

Guess what? Hacken and Alan are coming to Singapore again for their concert on 16th March 2005!! And I have bought the ticket already. I will be going together with Hacken Fan Club members. We will be sitting third row from the stage. So excited about it!!! Something big to look forward to!! Get your tickets HERE!

Met up with my Sec 1 and 2 Chinese language teacher 2 weeks ago. Had dinner with him together with Meihui. We got him some goodies as we expected him to treat us dinner. We ate at an Indonesian restaurant opposite Parco Bugis. He didn't change a bit, still looked the same as before. And he told us that his daughter is SAF's pilot earning like $13k per month! She holds a double degree (First class and first in standard in both) in a US University. My goodness! I can't believe my ears to hear that there such a competent woman in Singapore is his daughter! As usual, everyone will ask if I'm attached. So I told him I'm happy to be single, being able to enjoy freedom in everything I do. Besides I've got more than enough things to do besides having to be bothered with a boyfriend. He asked, "Really?" I guess I am so.

FYP FYP FYP! FYP SUCKS! And I have to take miserable GE during this semester break. Urgh. Progressing this holiday as my samples finally succeeded. Now I have to analyse and characterise them. Waking up at 630am (un-godly to me) and reaching the lab before 7am to queue outside for the XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) machine. Staying in hall do has it pros, haha! I was the first to reach the lab. Well, the pathetic school has only ONE such machine and there were only 4 slots for the undergraduates. Each slot is only 2 hours. I went to lab today, and they took away 1 slot, leaving us the pathetic FYP students only 3 slots. And why? The minority research students have 1 more slot now. What poor proportioning is this!?!? Really hope I have enough time to complete my FYP. Sigh.

Besides FYP and GE, I am also in the midst of intensive String Ensemble practises and rehearsals. We have an upcoming concert in Feb 05 and an invited guest performance in Jan 05 with NTU's Symphonic Band. There is also a 2005 countdown performance and a lunch-time performance in Feb 05. So many upcoming events. Hehe, but I'm enjoying it!

My family will be going to Taiwan for holiday. Sigh, and I can't join them. WHY? Cos I have GE exam!! Sucks rite?

Finally got Sims 2 installed in my PC at home. Can't play on my laptop though. Quite nice... Haha. Sims fan must get it!
