Christmas!

Christmas is always a wonderful festival. Because it
1. falls in the long holidays,
2. the weather is cooling/raining giving the cooling and soothing atmosphere,
3. the streets and roads are decorated with happy lights,
4. people exchange presents,
5. time for feasting.

This year it is special. It's the first time we did a Christmas party. It was held at CP's Bukit Timah Condo. There was CP (of cos), Marvin, YX, Von, JH, Mr A1 and Mr A2. There was lotsa food - pizza, fishball, turkey, chocolates, log cake, ice cream and tidbits. There was majong, poker cards and jigsaw. CP's house is REALLY nice. What I missed out was the Christmas lights in Orchard.

JH's present for me. It included this nice card with my wired-name. I feel so guilty not putting enough effort for my presents.

CP's present for me. Snow globe that has a button that keeps the snow flying all over. Special!

Von's present for me. Paper bag charm. LOL. The real thing is not ready yet... so she printed the design on paper and put into a nice box. Fainted when I opened it.

Marvin gave me a really nice pen holder. Just in time for use in school.

Our log cake from Taka Basement 2. Nice cake!!

It was a great get-together. Too bad Von had stomache and didn't sleep over with us. Only JH and I stayed over.

Looking forward to parties and gatherings!

X'mas party is coming up at CP's house!! I'll be in charge of making sandwiches, fishballs and deep-fried chicken wings. Woohoo!! I don't mind the hastle, cos' it's worthwhile preparing for luscious food!!!! *Dripping saliva* I'm a good cook I must say. I've got common sense for cooking food. HAHA!

Marvin will be in charge of turkey, JH and Von will be in charge of the Christmas Tree and deco! Haha! But I'll be doing shopping together with them coming Wed! Oh man! Great! CP will be providing his house to us, a Condo in BUKIT TIMAH! *gasp* He will buy log cake. Heh. *drools*

And CP hates eating spaggetti!! WHY?? Spaggetti is so nice loh! I mean minus the not-nice ones la. And home-made spaggetti is good! Remember you have to get Prego's spaggetti sauce, or Leggo's Carbonara sauce. Mix them with minced meat, tomatoes, mushrooms.... then finally add a dash of herbs and olive oil! Oh man! Why didn't he know how to appreciate spaggetti? Sigh.

Carey told me she WILL be going back Rengam for CNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it? I was already preparing myself not to be able to see the silly "kali-doi" for CNY 07. Looks like now I have something to look forward to. Carey I MISS U A LOT!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The one in red is "kali-doi". And the rest are my cousins. CNY is so fun, cos I get to see my cousins. Taken in CNY 06.

I hope to have more taken in CNY 07. Hope to see Carey soon!

There has been so many questions to me from others: Why didn't you convert to be Singaporean?

Besides the latest change in lowering PR's and foreigners medical subsidies, no edusave, no Singapore Shares, non-requirement for VISAs to many countries, list me some benefits I can have. I might consider. The feeling of stucked in between is bad. Where do I belong?

While packing my room, I found this:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

PSLE receipt!! The signature is of course not mine. It's my form teacher's Ms Lee Bee Horng. Wow... I still remember her full name! The number "6" on the right corner is my register number.

HAHA! I keep lotsa rubbish.

End of NIE

Ever since the end of NIE courses, I've been slacking at home. Worst of all, I've been mapling and watching Korean soap dramas.

I finished watching My Girl:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I like the ending... Haha! Another shuai ge in the show. I always feel that pictures doesn't really show the shuai-ness, it's always during the show, that I feel they are shuai! Perhaps they have what they called - CHARISMA!

Second show that I watched is Sassy Girl - Chun Hyang:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

An easy to watch drama, not soapy enough though. I thought the ending was a bit draggy. But it's quite nice to watch!

Third show - Snow White (aka Sweet Love):

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I don't like the ending!!!! Why didn't she end up with the shuai ge? Haiz!

In progress - Which Star Are You From?

The male lead is the one from Love At Harvard. I think he is a good actor! Another one of the charismatic guys!!

JB Trip

Woke up early this morning... meeting Bao, Mic, MC and Phil. We are going JB to shop, eat and do nails. From Bugis, we took the Singapore-JB Express over to JB. The customs was considered smooth. Then we walked over to City Square where we waited an hour for Phil to meet us. We were so super hungry, and hurried to an eating place. So we chose this - Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant at B2. We waited a while for our table cos' it was quite packed! Business is good! There is also a newly opened outlet at Vivo City.

And guess who is the spokesperson for the restaurant? It's Huang Zhong Ze!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

He is so dashing loh!!!

And so... prepare some tissue for ur dripping saliva... here's what we ate:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
MC ate fish fillet spaggetti in corn sauce.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Phil ate this pork chop in hot stone. It's very delicious and value for money.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I ate this fried chicken wings in ramen in typhoon shelter style. Quite spicy with lotsa fried garlic as garnishings. Tasty wor. And it's a VERY big bowl. Mic had something similar, except his was pork chop instead of chicken wings.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Bao had this - Nissan Chu1 Qian2 Yi4 Ding1 noodles. ZZZ. So not worth it. I also know how to cook this.

And I forgot to take a picture of our mango ice dessert!!!! Delicious! And very filling!!

After which, we took teksi(taxi) to Holiday Inn Plaza. It should cost you only RM$6. Don't get cheated. There, the girls did our nails, and the guys went for body massage. I did pedicure-spa, cost RM$100. Bao and MC did manicure and pedicure. Bao even added the 3D decorations on her toes. HAHA! NICE!

I bought 2 posters there!! Rain's one!!! HAHA! The shop didn't have Hacken Lee's one.

Shop location: Wumeng Enterprise. Holiday Plaza. Jalan Dato Sulaiman. Taman Century. Top floor.
Tel: 07-334 7450

Besides these 2, I got a third one for my friend - her favourite Goong poster. Total cost for 3 posters was RM$27. She gave me only $3 discount. Nevertheless, I was happy with the posters as they are big!!

It was already 7pm when we left Holiday Plaza. We took teksi again to Taman Sri Tebrau (Da4 Ma3 Hua1 Yuan2) for dinner. Teksi should cost you RM$5. We ordered steamed fish, da4 tou2, sambal kang kong, black pepper crab, chilli crab and hotplate toufu. The fish wasn't nice. We ordered red garoupa, but it came a black one instead. Felt cheated. When we asked the aunty, she said, "It's red garoupa." Duh. Like we don't know the skin should be red instead of black. We didn't pursue the matter. I just felt that the price we paid, we could have gotten better food in JB. I won't go there again.

Took cab to customs. RM$6. Mic bought the Ramlee burger there. We stood there and eat. RM$2 vs S$2. HAHA! Same burger, different price. Reached home about 11pm. ZZZ. A day spent without slacking at home! HAHA!

Happy Quarter-Century Old to CP!

Had so much food to blog about!!! Haven't been updating on what sinful stuff I've been eating! Let's start with the earliest...

Goldmine at NYDC - We orderd the combo set that comes with flowing thick chocolate that we poured over the whole thingy. OMG! It's heavenly! Can't remember what is the dessert on the right hand side called... but it's equally heavenly!

Then it's the fondue at Haagen Dazs!!! It's quite a big serving. Five of us were sharing it after dinner and couldn't really finish it. We were hoping there were more fruits to balance the sweetness of the chocolate fondue. One chocolate is Hazelnut chocolate and I loved it! You have to start with the ice-cream first. Dip into the chocolate, and let it harden. Then bite into it. OH MAN!

However the drinks are not so good. Quite disappointing. So just order ice water.

I went to Sushi Tei and tried their soba. My friend recommended to me saying it's the best soba he has eaten. I've never thought how cold noodles could be so tasty. And I never ordered because I love hot noodles too much. How delicious can it get if it's cold? Nevertheless, I ordered and it was not as bad as I thought!! Go try it!

I went New York New York to eat on Thursday evening. Surprisingly after many bad comments about it, I found the food there delicious! They even have free-flow of green apple-flavoured candy floss that you can make on your own! I had Spagetti with the white sauce (Carbonara?) with roasted half spring chicken. The chicken was very well-done. The breast meat wasn't tough that will give you goose pimples when you chew. It was a pity it was a hasty meal because we were rushing to SSO's Conrad Classics: Silver Screen Spectacular at Esplanade Concert Hall. The concert was good. Some reminiscence when they played E.T. and Harry Potter. They are just so GOOD.

Then yesterday was CP's 25th Birthday. We went to Juju Hokkaido Hot Pot Restaurant at Paradiz Centre. It has both al fresco and indoor dining areas. The al fresco area wasn't hot because the cool air reached us whenever the glass doors to Paradiz Centre opened. Furthermore there is live singing from 730 - 930pm. The price was very reasonable. Each set meal was only $24.90++. Don't gasp yet. Read on and you will feel that the money you're paying is worth it.

We ordered each set each. When the set came on a "ship" 3D tray, we were taken aback as the "ship" was really big! And the servings are big!! We had "ma la" and chicken stock soup to go with the steamboat.

Firstly we were served with appetizer. It's a 70% cooked egg. The waitress showed us how we should eat it. Put the egg onto the dish, use chopsticks to divide into two. Then pour the Japanese soya sauce over it, and EAT. The egg is so nicely done. The white is cooked leaving only part of the yolk liquid. The two sides are kimchi and seaweed.

Then food came and had a small bag of dough we could squeeze out into the soup that will turn into noodles. The waitress showed us how we could do it.

JH and tasty yummy food!!

CP's fish set is a whole fish!!!

Lotsa good food - crab, prawn, octopus, fish!!! The prawn is super nice!

Yvonne and her soba!

While eating halfway, we were served with this plum cold icy juice that was said to help us in digestion. It's very nice and I wished it was refillable!

At the end, it was dessert. This is called Pearl Harbour - mango, sago and aloe vera. Very nice!!!

Actually the set meal comes with the main dish:
Choose from mutton, beef, fish, seafood, pork.

Side dish:
Choose from soba, rice, vermicille. (I ordered soba and it wasn't nice. Maybe it could have tasted better if it was icy-cold.)

Desserts:
Choose from Pearl Harbour, Green Tea Fantasy, Ice-cream.

At the end the waitress even pealed open the wet tissue for us. Full marks for service!!!!! Their service is really commendable!

Lastly posing for the final group picture... A waiter (we suspected he's the manager) volunteered to help us take a group photo without us asking.

Drooling? Call 6336 6689 to make reservations today!!!

Besides the food, we could make song dedications. However they only sang 1 piece from our choices. Most probably they don't have the scores. And we also got them to sing a Birthday song for CP! The restaurant even gave a complimentary ice-cream for CP together with a candle!! Oh-man! He should be glad to have us as friends!! HAHA!

New Food on The Roll

Went to eat this dry-mee-sua at Circular Road. The coffee shop is the one just at the entrance/exit of the road facing South Bridge Road. Get the coffee shop correct because there are many other coffee shops along Circular Road.

It's very nice. Cost $3, with a lot of vinegar which I like! The mee sua is not the soft or messhy type. The soup is tasty and the minced pork is a bit fatty only. Definitely worth a try. Very special because I've never eaten dry-mee-sua before. The chilli is quite hot, be careful if you can't take spicy stuff. The non-spicy mee-sua will come with ketchup sauce.

Next is the Kolo mee. Park your car at Mosque Street or alight at Chinatown MRT station. The name of the shop is called Jia Xiang Kuching and Sarawak Kolo Mee. It has 2 branches along the same street. They are the same, don't worry. The minced pork is not at all fatty, super tasty with a lot of char siew! Thick and juicy and many pieces. HAHA! All for only $3.90. It tastes super good in either dry or soup. Must Must TRY!

The shop name is in BROWN... Can you see?

A blur picture of what is available.

Leaving This Land

I am so suffocated in Singapore. Migrating to Singapore isn't my choice and I don't want to. No relatives here. I want to ask them out for shopping, to go their houses and stayover, watch movie and have extended family dinners and gatherings. I feel so neglected. Is it because I'm not making the effort?

Haiz... I feel so lost in life now. I want to go overseas for a break, and I mean a long break. At least for a year. But how is it possible now? I have a 3-year to fulfill first, and it will only start in Jan 07.

I feel so different from the rest of others. What am I doing with my life? Am I too involved with and revolving around myself? Am I not contented?

Sony Ericsson K800i

This is my new handphone!!

It's bronze brown colour... This is a limited edition colour. I wanted the black one, but the man said the brown one has the updated software. The only bad thing is that the black one comes with 256MB memory the brown one ONLY 64MB. I also don't know why I chose the brown one still. Maybe because too many people have the black one.

Ya... I know I keep changing phones... I CAN'T help it! I love gadgets!!!

Went to this restaurant: Xing4 Le4 Yuan2 Hai3 Xian1
Address: 725 Havelock Road Singapore 169647 Tel: 62756268
Business Hours: 1100 - 1430 and 1700 - 2300 Hours

Went there with my family for lunch. We had 4 dishes selected from their menu and cost only $30.80 for 5 people after charges for tea, rice, wet towels and peanuts.

Their lunch set menu is: (Choose any 4 combination for $19.80)

1. Steamed fish or Deep Fried
2. Fried Clayfish in Teochew Style
3. Wrapped Chicken with Ginseng
4. Sweet and sour pork
5. Pig's Liver fried with spring onion
6. Mussels Fried with Szechuan Sauce
7. Fried vegetables with minced garlic
8. braise bean curd
9. fred egg with oyster
10. Frest steamed prawns
11. Daily soup

We had Ginseng paper-wrapped chicken, steamed fish, prawns and sweet and sour pork. The servings are enough for 5 people. Very value for money. However, I found the chrysanthamum tea was very bland, and the fish bland too. The plain rice is a bit meshy.

If you're looking for thick and rich flavours, these might not suit you. But it's worth a try, because it's worth it! And if you haven't been eating home for a while, this is a place to get some homely feeling. 3/5 stars.

Their dinner set menu is: (Choose any 4 combination for $29.80)

1. steamed fish or deep fried
2. pork rib with barbecue sauce
3. big prawns with minced garlic
4. fried vegetables with minced garlic
5. steamed cubes duck with ginger
6. crispy chicken with prawn paste
7. braised sea cucumber with fish maw
8. braised bean curd with prawns
9. clamps with chilli sauce
10. "you tiao" with salad sauce
11. fried prawn omelette
12. daily soup

Of course, if you do not want to choose from their sets, you can order a la carte. =)

Adventures on Earth

Concert is over!! The adventures are over!! No more faking of super fast running notes and hearing myself go out of tune! Lala!! Though the tickets didn't sell well, I guess this is a once-in-a-lifetime concert I will be involved in - with the pros and good repertoire. I am glad I'm part of it... =)

My friends came down on Thursday to support me. Even my Math Prof came down... wahahha! Friday there wasn't any for me. I thought Friday's performance was better. At least I can hear the others and the atmosphere was not as tense as Thursday's. The players' feelings do make a difference in the music.

My conductor cum instructor and us!

My NIE friends came down to support!!

After Friday's show, we went Brewerkz at Riverside Point for drinks!

My Soft Toys

These are my soft toys... was in the bag that is going to be donated to the Salvation Army... then looking back again, I think I will keep them.

This pig soft toy was given to me by my paternal grandma when I was about 5 years old. She went to Hong Kong and bought this back for me. This is the only gift from her. I have kept it clean, even till now, its fur is only slightly dirty. On the back of the pig is a zip... and when I open it up, there are 6 piglets inside! Haha! Cute right? How could I bear to donate it away??

This is Martin the Martian. I bought this when I was in Universal Studios in Australia in end year 2001. I like this character a lot. I like its peculiar character. Haha. It is so cute... I can't bear to leave it either.

This Miffy was once a character I liked in JC2. Together with this I also bought a set of 4 Miffy phonecards. It's too cute to be abandoned.

This classic Pooh bear is a birthday present from JH, YH, XL and David. It is very nice to hug. And how could you give away your birthday present?

This Piyo-Piyo is a birthday gift from Xinlian, my JC good friend. It can be detached from its "shell". I like this!

This green rabbit is given by Jiawei for my 12th birthday. It's the first soft toy gift from a friend. But I'm donating it. So this is a picture for remembrance.

This is something familiar. No... I'm not one of the crazy people in the Hello Kitty queue. I bought this out of sheer fun. And I didn't queue for it. Haha. No more market value. There it goes. Or should I post on ebay for sale? Anyone wants? I give them free. Just need to provide postage.

Also from McDonalds' is this little toys from Sesame Street. Wanted to collect the whole series, but was a waste of money. And luckily I didn't. Any collectors?

This is a beaver? When pressed in the stomach, it will give those "squeek" sounds. It's given by my cousin Sis. The fur is very nice.

Oreo plush, free, for purchase of 2 bars of Oreos. This was bought for me by TW. He drove his white Nissan to Hall 10 and gave it to me. He even bought a small small packet to bluff me... Haiz... those were the days...
